Episode 299 – Alchemised — The Worst Bestsellers

Hosts Renata and Kate, joined by guest Nicole, review *Alchemized* by Sen Lin Yu, a 1,000-page novel originally written as *Harry Potter* fan fiction. They critique the book’s heavy reliance on *The Handmaid’s Tale* tropes, its unrelenting dark themes, and its failure to stand as original fiction without the source material’s context. The discussion highlights the book’s repetitive pacing, problematic handling of sexual assault, and the disconnect between its popular fan-fiction origins and its execution as a published bestseller.
