Summary
Private detective Richard Rogue navigates a tangled web of murder and greed after Joe Layton is killed for half a map leading to $25,000 buried in the valley. Rogue is coerced by Muriel Scott, Layton’s accomplice, who holds him at gunpoint overnight to secure the other half of the map upon its arrival. After retrieving the map, the pair heads to the burial site, only to be ambushed by Duke Dickerson’s henchmen who steal the cash. Rogue ultimately turns Muriel over to the police, collects his fees, and reflects on the lingering regret of their interrupted escape to Rio.
