Humans Encountered… Terror Birds?
Summary
This episode explores the survival of South American terror birds and other Ice Age megafauna, challenging the notion that they vanished before human arrival. It highlights cave art in Serra da Capivara, Brazil, which may depict humans hunting giant sloths and terror birds, suggesting direct interaction. The discussion extends to recent eDNA studies proving mammoths and horses persisted in the Arctic until the Bronze Age, illustrating how isolated populations survived far longer than previously thought.
