"Treetops" - Chilling Tales for Dark Nights
Summary
FBI investigator Felix Freeman investigates the recurring disappearance of children in the isolated town of Dorton Bluffs, where residents dismiss the vanishing as teens running away. After uncovering a local legend called "Treetops," Felix is led into the forest by teenagers, where he is captured and killed by a colossal, tree-like entity. The story concludes with the teens revealing that the town sacrifices outsiders to appease the creature, which decorates the forest canopy with the bones of its victims.
