Summary
Benjamin Franklin, who faked his death, arrives at the Bitcherton estate seeking a scandalous drawing to aid War of 1812 negotiations. The family reveals they buried Lord Bitcherton, but the grave is now empty, suggesting he faked his own death to escape them. Threatening to expose Franklin’s secret, they coerce Franklin into finding him. Franklin agrees to help, disgusted by his friend's abandonment of the women.
