The Masked Lesbian Psyop
Summary
Host Matt Bernstein and guests Moira Donegan and Kat Tenbarge discuss a Boston Globe article about a small lesbian bar in Massachusetts that faced violent online backlash for making masks optional on Saturdays. The episode analyzes how the story was weaponized by right-wing media and specific internet trolls to mock queer communities, while also critiquing the internal dynamics and purity testing within leftist spaces. The hosts explore the ethical implications of the journalism, the disproportionate nature of the harassment, and the broader cultural context of online discourse.
